My rods have always come and gone, sometimes they go to friends and sometimes they go on gumtree, it just depends. I'm not one for becoming attached to individual bits of kit but I do like certain brands, Shakespeare being one, I grew up fishing a Shakey.

The rod above was the last telescopic fly rod I owned, sadly I broke it beyond repair so it went to the bin, it wasn't till recently I decided to replace it so off I went in search of a new tele fly rod. Sadly it would seem that Shakespeare have discontinued this rod and it's pretty hard to find on the second hand market. Also, I was unable to find any other tele fly rods out there apart from a really crappy one that's out of stock everywhere and the odd import on ebay.
So what should I do now ?, I can't find the rod I want and I can't find anything similar, I guess I'll just have to keep looking and hope I find someone selling one. I guess that the multi piece travel rods have taken over the market but i think they're missing true portability. One other thing I always loved about having a tele was being able to collapse the rod fully rigged when moving around the riverbank, something that can't be done with a multi piece rod.
Anyone got an old Odyssey Tele ?
